Do I need an existing ComicBase or CLZ account to use LongboxSync?
No. Imports from ComicBase and CLZ are optional. You can also build your inventory by photographing covers with the scanner and confirming the details for each book.
How does cover scanning work?
The scanner sends your cover photo to an image-recognition service that returns a suggested series, issue, publisher, and cover date. It does not identify creators, variants, or printings, so check those yourself. When the service reports a match score below 60%, it suggests nothing; when it reports no score, the page says so. Either way, you confirm every detail before saving.
Can LongboxSync prevent overselling across different platforms?
For books imported through a HipComic API connection, yes: when one sells on your Shopify store, LongboxSync removes the matching HipComic listing. Cancelled orders are not relisted automatically; they are flagged for you to review.
What happens if I scan a comic that isn't recognized?
If recognition fails or the reported match score is too low, nothing is filled in for you. You can enter the title, issue, and other details by hand and save the book as usual.
